A Riot of Summer Zest

This time of year, the kitchen is a parade of aromas and riots of color as a prelude to the autumn leaves that will be making an appearance in a few weeks. Today the aroma that fills my kitchen are the oils from the lemon basil. I have to say this herb packs a punch! The oils are so intense that I can feel them on my face and in my eyes much like what it feels like when you peel an onion. The pesto itself is no different and a little goes a long way. At the moment one of our favorite ways to use it is an amazing ingredient in a Greek chicken marinate and when you prepare it over an open fire is drool worthy!

Home and the land it is built on is a sacred place and it doesn’t mean that the extraordinary is perfect or expensive. Rather the extraordinary is as an opportunity to elevate and working what you have. Even if its a little things like fresh lemon-basil-pesto.

  • Lemon Basil
    Olive oil
    Ninja blender
    Cute jar of choice
Cover pesto with olive oil and refrigerate.

PS. I am not a recipe developer, but I do love sharing inspiration!
